This is my first post so I thought I might write about me. I have been playing golf for most of my life; since I was about 6 or 7. This was mostly due to the fact that my grandfather is a huge golfer. He loves to golf and hits the course several times a week. He is the main reason I am where I am in my game.
I love to golf and go out as much as I can; golf is a very expensive sport though. I was on the golf team last year and am planning on playing this year as well. I think my golf game has improved tremendously in the past year or so. I have learned to critique myself and fix things in my swing as I go along. My average score on 9 holes last year was about 50 which is not great but it's also not horrible. I have dropped my average score down to about a 44, which I think is a good improvement in such a short time period. In the past 11 years or so that I have been in this game I have played on many different courses in many different cities on the east coast. I have played in West Palm Beach, FL, Charlotte, NC (of course), around Boston, MA, and Charleston, SC, just to name a few. The course I play at most of the time is Stonebridge Golf Club in Mineral Springs. Stonebridge has a reputation of being one of the toughest public courses in the Charlotte area. Stonebridge is one of my favorite places to play because it is challenging and beautiful. In my opinion it is the best designed public course I have ever played.
Next week I will cover the highlights of this year's AT&T National Pro-Am at Pebble Beach. Be sure to come back and check it out.
Hey I get to comment today! Not sure what was wrong yesterday. Great layout. I like your entry--good intro and links to your love of golf.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog.Like the personal touch and the look and feel. Just like a great golf course should be.
ReplyDeleteYou’re on the right track, Brian. :) It takes years before you get well-versed in this sport, so it’s great that you started to learn at such a young age. And you’re right; a -6 drop on your average is quite an amazing feat. Golfers who are much older even find that a challenge. Keep working on your skills every day, and in time, you’ll feel natural and confident on the course.
ReplyDeleteSofia's right. Experience is one of the best teachers in golf. Practice makes you a better player, you know. As you progress, you'll learn a lot of basic and pro techniques. :) I know you can do better than your score last year, Brian. Good luck on your career as a golf player!
